In Germany, nothing could be more extravagant than the local carnival greetings that accompany the so-called “fifth season”, the German Carnival season. Alongside the classic greetings of the cities that celebrate the carnival – such as Hellau, Alaaf or Ho Narro, there are small differences between villages in the order, number or repeating of the greetings. For example, in the Alemannic linguistic usage, the carnival is greeted with a loud “Ho Narro”; on the Swabian side of the Lake of Constance, a “Narri Narro” can be heard. But for all that are caught in the carnival’s spell, one thing is common: at the end of the carnival period on Ash Wednesday, the joyful anticipation for the next 11th of November begins. The date with all digits identical rings once again the beginning of the “fifth season” at 11:11.
Medals and pins
This is when we come into play. Big medals are ordered every year by carnival guilds. The motifs are stamped to great effect in achieving their great look. Pleasant, colourful statements are also possible to make. The so-called soft enamel colours are used for the colour inlays, inserted in the filigree stamped lowered surfaces. But pins are also quite successful. Firstly, they can be easily attached to any “Häs” (Swabian-Alemannic carnival costume) thanks to their small size and weight and can be made with any imaginable refinement. Furthermore, they make good souvenirs that can be worn on jean jackets at the end of the carnival.

Carnival badges can be made with any imaginable refinement, as long as the motif’s size and level of detail are suitable for it. Another option that works for any motif is the printed pin. With the methods of screen and offset printing, pins can be created from any production template in all its beauty and level of detail. While screen printing allows for up to 4 colours to be printed, colour gradients and pictures are the strong points of the offset printing method. Your creativity when it comes to choosing a motif therefore need not be limited. Visible metal outlines as well as individual production finishes are the strong points of stamped pins. These finishes that accentuate the shine and the stamping of the pins grant them an uttermost high-quality look.
Guilds and royal couples
On top of the classic carnival associations, the production of personalised pins is greatly enjoyed by the so-called “royal couples”. They establish their regime in the fifth season and hand over badges to their court according to tradition to remind them of their term in office.
