Every pin reflects the very personal display of aesthetics and your message. Therefore, it is important for us to give you an overall presentation of the different options we have for hard enamel and an overview of each production step. We would like you to understand our product completely, from a sketch to the finished pin.
Refinements
The metal sticks, which show on a stamped pin, can be made of gold, silver, bronze, or copper, according to choice. Moreover, we offer a 70% black, captivating black-metallic refinement option.
The attachments
Alongside the renowned butterfly fastener, we offer a large range of attachment options to fit the desired field of use for your pin. Brooch pins, screw caps or magnetic fasteners complete the selection.
The packaging options
In order to top off your pin’s look, we provide different packaging options. You can choose from a standard polybag to customizable printed pillow-shaped boxes. Because we also want to lead a sustainable lifestyle, we additionally have environment-friendly cardboard boxes.
The production process
The template
When it comes to motifs that you want to see stamped onto your pin, it is essential to separate the colour surfaces from one another with metal sticks; this needs to be previously drawn in the sketch. Sending the motif as a vector graphic is an important advantage, especially for stamped pins, because we can work in a focused manner with the individual lines. Alternatively, we can send you our design suggestion based on a high-resolution jpg file or prepare your motif from a sketch, like in the depicted example.
Stamping
Our price quotation and design suggestion have managed to please you, we send your motif to production for free after your order confirmation. Your motif is then transformed into a die stamp in which the outline of your motif as well as the inside metal sticks are engraved to create the stamp. After that, a copper blank is stamped, from which are at first created individual pins. The use of copper allows an uttermost filigree and true to detail realisation of the production template.
Finishing
After the metal finishing with the use of a galvanic bath, the lowered metal surfaces are filled with the selected hard enamel colour inlays through elaborate handwork, based on your design. To complete your pin, these inlays are additionally burnt onto the copper blank at high temperature. This guarantees resistant and strong colours. An elaborate polishing of each pin’s individual surface confers an uttermost high-quality appearance to hard enamel pins during the last step of production. The burnt-in colour inlays now constitute a smooth surface alongside the metal sticks.
The example pin
The hard enamel pin used as an example for this article was commissioned by the Petra Pharmacy in Kaiserslautern. A manually drawn sketch was used as the template, manually drawn by the client who wished for a friendly, yet bringing the pharmacy to mind pin, and that shouldn’t include more than four different colours. In order to create clear yet not too harsh outlines, we suggested going for the black-metallic refinement option, as well as a notable yet not cumbersome size of 25mm and a solid butterfly fastener. We would be very happy if such a friendly and distinctive pin can put a spell on patients to give them a smile despite their illness.
